Of Patch
90% of fire department patches we manufacture are 4" or 4 1/2". The larger the patch the greater amount of detail that can be added. We suggest a 4 1/2" patch.

FDNY E-4 L-15 (see image above) selected an enclosed maltese cross. This is a great design and there is alot of space to create a detailed design. FDNY E-10 L-10 "Ten House" (see above image) selected a shape close to the FDNY Department shape. This shape is also another excellent shape that can be used well. We can also take a unique design like LA County Staion 65 and heat cut the border as shown above.

FDNY E-4 L-15 and FDNY E-10 L-10 have and enclosed area so we can embroider a merrowed border around the whole outside of the patch. Irregular shapes need to be heat cut such as the LA County Station 65.
